Here at “Big Dreams” we provide a caring, stimulating, welcoming environment which is responsive to children’s needs and respects them as individuals. The individuality of each child in our care will be respected and nurtured.
Our Ethos
We believe that a play based, child-centred, quality learning environment is essential to promote the holistic development of each child in our care.
After School takes place in a large, bright, spacious room with adjoining toilets- Inside we have loads of activities to engage young minds. Our facility provides a variety of building materials that encourage creativity and innovation. We love drawing, painting, melting beads, loom bands, card games and imaginative play and much more.
Snack/Mealtime is relaxed and leisurely to enable children to unwind, socialise and discuss daily events. Healthy snacks are available for children who have finished their lunches earlier in the day, in case of necessity only.
At Big Dreams we love being outside and try to get outside as often as we can, once the weather allows. We are so lucky to have access to a variety of large outdoor spaces and where we can enjoy outdoor toys such as hoola hoops, balls, skipping ropes and cones all of which can be used for a variety of games or imaginative and open-ended play activities.
We support children with their written homework in a very positive and relaxed manner in a one-hour period.
Due to child/staff ratio, and children from various classes it is not possible to do one on one reading with each child so all reading/tables/spelling should be done at home.
It is parent’s responsibility to check homework and sign their journals.
At Big Dreams we understand that each child needs time to relax and play after a day at school so we endeavour to keep homework quick, relaxed and pressure free, with the view to ensuring that the children get quality time to play.
